A Much Needed Finish

Have you ever just needed to finish something for your sanity? Like the projects just keep piling up but nothing seems to get finished? This is the state I found myself in when starting the March Island Batik Ambassador project. The theme, like last year in March, was Mini Madness. It had to be smaller than 24" x 24", and had to be foundation pieced or english paper pieced.

Blossoming Batiks

Oh,  hi there! It has been a while since I’ve posted. Much longer than I had hoped. So let’s talk about that for a second. For a little over a year I’ve been struggling with back issues. I took a tumble down the stairs and that highlighted an injury in my back from my time in the Marine Corps. Healing has been slow because of my natural affinity to find, and trip over, just about anything.

Mug Rug Madness - Part 2

After making the Mr. Fox mug rug, and deciding I couldn't part with him, I couldn't go without making another mug rug for my friend. After much thought, and scouring Craftsy for free paper pieced patterns, I ran across the Mug o' Love by Jennifer Ofenstein of Sewhooked. It was perfect, and I think I need to make one for my son's teacher for Valentines Day as well.

Mug Rug Madness - Part 1

A couple weeks ago the Mr. Fox pattern popped up on my Facebook feed. It is a free pattern on Craftsy by Julia Eigenbrodt of Stars & Sunshine. A combined need for a quick finish and the desire to brighten a friend's day had me diving for my scrap bin.  The pattern is for a 5" x 5" finished block which was perfect for a mug rug.
