Christmas in July - Part 1

This month the Island Batik Ambassador theme is Christmas in July. Rich foods, warm snuggly quilts, hot beverages, fires in the fire pit. Those are all things that the Christmas season brings to mind, so it is not at all surprising that, with temperatures of 110°+ I wasn’t feeling particularly inspired to make something Christmas related.

April Showers Challenge

We often hear that April Showers bring May flowers, but I live in the desert, so when we were told to do something that was rain related, or spring themed, I had to google what rain is. Apparently, in some places, water falls from the sky and makes things wet, and helps flowers and plants grow. I'm envious because I would love to see it myself.

Dear Grandma

Dear Grandma,

I will miss you more than words  can express, but your 89 years on this earth were filled with love, joy, and beauty. For that I am thankful. The lessons you taught me were useful and many. You were a wife, mother, teacher, bus driver, and much, much more. I've been inspired by you many times over, and I'm grateful to have had you in my life. The love and guidance you have given me have helped shape me as the person I am today.

First Finish of 2016 & Free Pattern Link

It may seem silly, but I started quilting it on my Kenmore (Janome packaged with the Kenmore name) , and so it seemed only natural to finish on that machine. Plus, I didn't have to wind a new bobbin and waste the one I had wound. So out came my Kenmore and On the Go. It took 2 days to finish the center with lots of supervision.

2015 - A Year of Growth and Positive Change

So I am a little late getting this post out, but oh well. Nothing can be done to change the past, I will just have to work on making sure next year's post is out before the end of the year. This has been a part of the theme of 2015 though. Working on not giving up, and being easier on myself if I don't live up to my expectations or fall behind when it comes to (generally unrealistic) deadlines I set for myself.
