Island Batik Great Outdoors Blog Hop - Eclectic Garden

Oh, the great outdoors. This time of year in Arizona we only dream of going outside and experiencing this. Thankfully this blog hop not only lets you enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors from the air conditioning, but we also get to drool over beautiful Island Batik fabric! What can get any better than that?

Solar Flare - Secondary Pattern Challenge

This month's Island Batik Ambassador challenge is Pattern Play - Secondary Pattern Challenge. The whole idea behind this challenge is to create a quilt where, when the blocks are put together, an unexpected pattern emerges. This by far has to be my favorite challenge of all, because it is one of my favorite things to do in design, and fundamental to creating any mystery quilt I run on my website (because it makes it harder to guess the finished design).

2018 Island Batik Ambassador Box 2

It is that time again! The second box of goodies arrived from Island Batik. It actually arrived last Tuesday, but I was in the middle of cleaning up for the Creative Spaces Blog Hop, hosted by Cherry Blossoms Studio Tamarinis. Go With the Flow

The monthly challenges also help me to exercise my creativity in ways I would have never thought of without the monthly challenges.

Oh Baby!

It has been quiet on here lately, I know, but what better way to get back in the swing of blogging then showing off a project made with beautiful Island Batik fabrics! This month's event was to create a crib quilt, and of course I knew just what design to use.

Since its creation, I've wanted to make a version of Playful Pachyderm in batiks, but of course I couldn't decide on a single color way so.........I made 3. Yes, you read that right, I made 3 different color ways.

A Much Needed Finish

Have you ever just needed to finish something for your sanity? Like the projects just keep piling up but nothing seems to get finished? This is the state I found myself in when starting the March Island Batik Ambassador project. The theme, like last year in March, was Mini Madness. It had to be smaller than 24" x 24", and had to be foundation pieced or english paper pieced.

News & Christmas in July - Part 2

Now, I know it is not July, but Iā€™m going to pretend it is, because where in the world did this year go? Has it gone by fast for anyone else? Either way, I had originally hoped to get my Ambassador Christmas in July project quilted before the end of July, but oh well. This is why I start my Christmas projects in July. That way I may actually get them done in time to use for Christmas. What time of year do you work on your holiday projects?
