It is time again for another Island Batik blog hop where all the Ambassadors showcase the newly released fabric lines about to hit stores! These are always so much fun because the group is filled with some amazingly creative people.

Island Batik Great Outdoors Blog Hop - Eclectic Garden

Oh, the great outdoors. This time of year in Arizona we only dream of going outside and experiencing this. Thankfully this blog hop not only lets you enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors from the air conditioning, but we also get to drool over beautiful Island Batik fabric! What can get any better than that?

Solar Flare - Secondary Pattern Challenge

This month's Island Batik Ambassador challenge is Pattern Play - Secondary Pattern Challenge. The whole idea behind this challenge is to create a quilt where, when the blocks are put together, an unexpected pattern emerges. This by far has to be my favorite challenge of all, because it is one of my favorite things to do in design, and fundamental to creating any mystery quilt I run on my website (because it makes it harder to guess the finished design).

Island Batik Ambassador Event - Playful Pillows

Pillows, pillows everywhere. This month in the Island Batik Ambassador world we are making Playful Pillows! Any size and shape would do. They are so much fun to make, but I always seem to have a hard time squeezing them into my sewing schedule.

Go With the Flow

Did you know there are only 28 days in February? I mean, I'm sure we all know there are 28 days (29 in a leap year), but does it really register until it is the 28th and the next day is March? For me the answer is no. In my mind, somehow, I thought I had at least 2 more days for the monthly challenge. Thank goodness I didn't leave it till the last day!

Island Batik Ambassador Unboxing

So, I applied to be an Island Batik Ambassador again in 2018 and was happy when I found out that I was accepted back! It is such a fun program and I find my fellow Ambassadors wonderfully creative and inspirational. The monthly challenges also help me to exercise my creativity in ways I would have never thought of without the monthly challenges.

Gifts and Goals

Last weekend was the Arizona Quilter's Guild Fall Meeting. For those that aren't familiar with AQG, it is HUGE. The guild spans the state with chapters that meet all over the place. Because of the size of the guild, there are only 2 meetings a year that encompass all the chapters. One in fall, and one in spring. This one was close, and I was asked to be there to vend for Bernina Connection. Since I wanted to attend this worked out great.

A Much Needed Finish

Have you ever just needed to finish something for your sanity? Like the projects just keep piling up but nothing seems to get finished? This is the state I found myself in when starting the March Island Batik Ambassador project. The theme, like last year in March, was Mini Madness. It had to be smaller than 24" x 24", and had to be foundation pieced or english paper pieced.

Island Batik New Beginnings Blog Hop

Today is my day to showcase the Island Batik Blushing Blooms collection for the New Beginnings Blog Hop. Now when we were told the theme, I sighed so hard my mom heard me on the other side of the city. New Year's Resolutions, and New Year New Beginnings, and anything along those lines, that happens around the beginning of the year doesn't jive for me.

News & Christmas in July - Part 2

Now, I know it is not July, but I’m going to pretend it is, because where in the world did this year go? Has it gone by fast for anyone else? Either way, I had originally hoped to get my Ambassador Christmas in July project quilted before the end of July, but oh well. This is why I start my Christmas projects in July. That way I may actually get them done in time to use for Christmas. What time of year do you work on your holiday projects?

Pumpkin Fest

Happy Halloween! I'm cutting this Island Batik Ambassador event pretty close (it is still October where I am). I guess it is appropriate that my project theme is Midnight at the Pumpkin Patch! We were asked to create something with pumpkins in it, or using the colors of the pumpkin patch.

Christmas in July - Part 1

This month the Island Batik Ambassador theme is Christmas in July. Rich foods, warm snuggly quilts, hot beverages, fires in the fire pit. Those are all things that the Christmas season brings to mind, so it is not at all surprising that, with temperatures of 110°+ I wasn’t feeling particularly inspired to make something Christmas related.

April Showers Challenge

We often hear that April Showers bring May flowers, but I live in the desert, so when we were told to do something that was rain related, or spring themed, I had to google what rain is. Apparently, in some places, water falls from the sky and makes things wet, and helps flowers and plants grow. I'm envious because I would love to see it myself.
