Clue 7 - Units F & G

Important - All measurements pertaining to the smaller size of this quilt will be contained in brackets next to the larger size. 

For example:

Sew a 2 1/2" {2"} square to another 2 1/2" {2"} square to complete step.


Supplies:

  • 12 Fabric 1, 5 1/4" {4 1/4"} squares
  • 48 Fabric 4, 2 7/8" {2 3/8"} squares
  • 18 Fabric 2, 5 1/4" {4 1/4"} squares
  • 72 Fabric 1, 2 7/8" {2 3/8"} squares
  • Basic Sewing Supplies
  • Basic Cutting Supplies

Sewing:

  • Place 2 Fabric 4 - 2 7/8" {2 3/8"} squares, right sides down, on a Fabric 1 - 5 1/4" {4 1/4"} square like the example.
  • Sew a 1/4" from the line on both sides.
  • Press toward the triangles.
    Note - Pressing before cutting apart the unit will make them more accurate.

  • Cut apart your sewn unit on the drawn line. See example.

  • On one of the units that were just sewn, place a Fabric 4 - 2 7/8" {2 3/8"} square, right side down.
  • Sew 1/4" on both sides of the drawn line.
  • Press toward the triangles.

  • Cut apart your sewn unit on the drawn line. See example.
    Note - 4 geese are produced each time the above steps are performed. 

  • Make 48 of these units and label them Unit F.
  • Finished unit size is a 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" {2" x 3 1/2"} rectangle.

Repeat the above steps with the Fabric 2 - 5 1/4" {4 1/4"} squares and Fabric 1 - 2 7/8" {2 3/8") squares.

  • Make 72 of these units and label them Unit G.
  • Finished unit size is a 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" {2" x 3 1/2"} rectangle.
